1. OLAKUNLE AWOYELE Nigerian Army thanks to Brig General Aderibigbe for his release is the Current African Champion in the -71kg Full contact category currently, voted as one of the best fighters of the event with the fastest knockout of the event less than 10 seconds in the final against El Bahri Miloud from Morocco he will be representing Africa at the World combat games
2. CAROLINE JOSEPH AMADO from Akwa Ibom state sports council thanks to the Director of Sports Akwa Ibom State Sports council for his support, she stopped all her opponents in the preliminary rounds but lost narrowly by 1 point to Keroui Hanan of Tunisia taking the silver in the -60 kg full contact category, by winning Silver she still qualified to represent Africa at the World Combat games in Russia 2012.
3. AKEEM SADIKU from the Oyo State Sports council fought well in the preliminary ones but lost in the Semi finals to El bakhouri Mohammed of Morocco in a most controversial circumstance Mohammed went on to win the Weight class in the -67kg low kick category
Dr. Mykel Eneduwa was appointed as Vice President for Confederation and also President for Zone 2 comprising , Togo , Benin, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal , all the countries in West Africa he is saddled with the task of developing kickboxing in the region, this is in Recognition of his efforts at developing the sport in Nigeria and in the region.
Kickboxing in Nigeria has come a long way and has witnessed a lot of highs and lows just like any other sport but dedication from athletes and officials has kept the sport growing , over the past years Nigeria has produced three World Champions and now an African champion, but since its still battling for Olympic recognition most people only recognize Olympic Sports , by far the most practiced combat sport in Nigeria, it witnessed the most turnout of athletes in the last sports festival among most combat sports.
